Our Services

We offer grazing services to create biodiversity and soil health first and foremost. Grazing is useful towards efforts of fire and fuel reduction, dealing with ‘invasive’ plants, creating access to overgrown areas of properties to further be managed by hand tools/ chainsaws. We have a mixed flock of sheep and goats totaling near 100 on average. We have four dogs that travel with the animals for protection and herding purposes.

Wildfires stop where sheep and goats graze

Q: What are proper scenarios to bring in grazing animals?

A: Grazing offers an ecological alternative to mowing, which no equipment can replicate that of a ruminant browsing. In California our grasslands have evolved with ruminants and Prescribed (Rx) fire. Our mission is to implement animal impact for lasting resilience of our grasslands and forests.

Grazing offers different approach to dealing with brushy areas that are inaccessible and in proximity to homes or other valuable resources. Grazing is NOT similar to mastication, and grazing will not destroy %`100 of trees, shrubs, bushes or invasive plants in just one pass. Such effects as causing mortality of a single species in not in our ethos. Grazing will improve the soil health and create access to such areas, in all cases, goat trails. Our aim is to reduce the vegetation by 1/3 to 1/2 in each pass. Grazing changes the landscape for good when it is continued each year. When repeated grazing occurs, unwanted and undesirable species of grasses, shrubs , and encroaching trees are more likely to be in a larger decline. Such examples include, blackberry, coyote brush, teasel, star thistle, broom.. .the list goes on.

Q: What do you charge / how do you charge?

A: We charge by the acre, starting at $500 per acre, to $2,400 depending on accessibility, density, access to water, steepness, the list goes on…
